DR. ABRAHAM VEMA has a PhD (FAO/UNDP Fellow) and Post-Doctoral Research experience in Biochemistry / Biotechnology from India and Ireland. He has worked as Senior Scientific Officer in the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. He has also completed five years of Biblical studies, attaining a Master of Theology degree at Dallas Seminary. Dr. Vema has had the privilege of sharing the Good News in many parts of the world, and has had extensive experience in counseling families and leaders.
Dr. Vema is the President of Abraham International Leadership Ministries, a ministry of personal friendship and fellowship in the spirit of Jesus to the Ambassadors in New York, Washington DC and Geneva and leaders of the world, by facilitating charitable assistance and spiritual counsel for the welfare of all people.
Dr. Vema co-hosts open events, like the annual International Prayer Breakfast (IPB), at the United Nations, on the opening day of the United Nations General Assembly session. Additionally, he has one-on-one meetings with Ambassadors and visiting dignitaries from around the Globe, sharing the Good News of the Lord Jesus Christ in love and action.
Dr. Vema has met over 3000 dignitaries across 190 Nations in the past 10 years for the cause of Christ. He has had the privilege of meeting with H.E. Mr. Kofi Annan, the Secretary General of the United Nations, Presidents of the 48th to 60th sessions of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), as well as many other visiting Presidents, Foreign Ministers and Parliamentarians.
Dr. Vema co-hosted the fourth annual African Union Heads of States Prayer Breakfast (AUPB), in association with the Government of the Republic of Sudan, in Khartoum on January 23, 2006. The Prayer Breakfast was modeled after previous AUPB gatherings which were held in Maputo-2003, Addis-2004 and Abuja-2005 in recognition of the opening of the AU Heads of State Summit. Some of those who have attended these events are Secretary Generals of UN, Arab League, Commonwealth, Chairperson of the African Union, the Presidents of Benin, Burundi, Cape Verde, Egypt, Gabon, Ghana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Mali, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sao Tome, Somalia, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe (some with their spouses) and many other delegates.
